JANUARY 2010
Gentlemen;Happy New Year. May it be full of bountiful discoveries of love and life. As I enter this new year, I am pondering whether to enter a doctoral program to fulfill a life long dream or to leave it simply as a dream that was fun to envision. As 2009 came to a close, I had the opportunity to examine how I have lived. The H1N1 flu nailed me to a bed and leapt into a sinus and respiratory infection. Then a bleeding ulcer from the anticoagulants, working too well, caused internal bleeding, making me realize that I am not infallible, at least all the time. Now, I am off all medication and roaring into the new year with renewed mischief. I set the dates for the Return weekend...July 15-18, 2010. More details will be forthcoming as I shape the weekend. Like all return weekends, we will do a sweat lodge and alone time in bivys for those interested. Costs will be the same as all other weekends, $600. Some scholarships will be available. We have people signing up for the 2010 program already, so I am making meaning that it will be another great year for those called to nurture their soul and find themselves in a whole new way of life. As a reminder, 2010’s program dates are March 18-21, 2010, June 24-27, 2010, September 23-26, 2010, and November 11-14, 2010. Returning attendees receive 25% off of the $2,400 price, if paid by February 15, 2010. New attendees receive a $300 discount if paid in full prior to February 15, 2010. Registration and PayPal can be used on the website for the program or return weekend. I’ve included an inventory of "how we do ourselves" in the following pages. It is not a New Year’s resolution process. Just an opportunity to consciously choose how to live. I hope you enjoy the newsletter enough to forward it to a few friends. Long term friendships that are meaningful | Smoking |
Exercising — walking, running, lifting weights | Not exercising |
Leaning into my discomforts to gain new insights. Constantly trying to learn | Resenting others instead of working through issues |
Dancing, laughing, and/or singing, talking vacations that sooth my soul | Working long hours to avoid living |
Accepting "what is" | Being a perfectionist in an imperfect world |
Seeing the good in people while knowing that all are not good for me | Being with people that drain or harm me |
Saying what is so when it is so without blame or judgment | Not telling people how I really feel |
Paying attention to when I need to sleep | Not getting enough rest |

Upcoming Programs
One-Year Initiation Program for Men
Starting in Spring, March 18, 2010
4 Seasons, 4 Weekends:
March 18-21
June 24-27
Sept 23-26
Nov 11-14
Natural Passages one-year program is a 4-session male initiation. It is a program that enables the core integrity of the man to surface. It is designed to awaken, develop, and nurture the essence and fullness of being a man in today's world. Our focus is developmental. We seek to invoke the unfoldment of mature masculine energies. Our goal is specific. We seek to assist each man to find his place in the world. Our hope is honorable. We seek to fill the void of mature men that can stay within the center of whom they are regardless of circumstances. Our dream is selfish. In helping you to find your place in the world, we envision your helping others to do the same. Therein, we can build community and make a difference in the world.
The MoMen Return weekend is a return to where we started. It is an exploration into the four principles of presence. The focus is to delve deeply into the relational next steps of the four chambered heart, the four phantoms of fear and the resulting shadow behavior. Dynamic exercises will be provided to support an inward journey and then the opportunity to share these private stories with each other.
The intention of the weekend is to take advantage of the wooded area of the Pebble Ledges. Living in tents, we will have the magic of solitude, the comfort of the surrounding forest, and the support of the community of other MoMen. Woven into the fabric of the weekend are experiences that support personal and interpersonal explorations of whom are you as a man in today’s world.
